Tall enough for a full stretch
35 inches lets an adult cat stand on its hind legs and extend completely. That full-body stretch is the whole point of scratching — a short post makes a cat crouch, and a crouching cat goes back to the couch.
A base built to stay still
Widened and weighted, with a carpeted underside. This is the part nobody photographs and everybody feels: a cat that meets a wobble once usually never tries the post again.
Cotton rope, not sisal
A softer alternative to traditional sisal — gentler on paws, tear-resistant, and it sheds far fewer loose fibres. Owners kept telling us the same two things about sisal: cats chew and swallow the strands, and frayed sisal means buying another post.
Toys built in, not bolted on
A mouse hole, a wooden ball track and a hanging plush toy — so the post is somewhere the cat wants to be, not just somewhere it is allowed to scratch.

Questions owners ask
Will it tip over with a large cat?
Scratching won't tip it — Maine Coon owners report it stays put. What can tip any post this height is a heavy cat launching off the top platform. If your cat is a jumper, set part of the base under a couch leg or add a weight on the base; both fixes came from our own buyers.
Is the rope sisal?
No — it's natural cotton rope. Softer on paws, and it doesn't shed the loose strands cats chew and swallow from sisal.
How hard is assembly?
About five minutes: attach the post, tighten the screws with the included tool, then give it a firm push to check it's snug before your cat does.
